    • CATECHESIS OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD
      3K-1st Grade

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is a Montessori-based religious formation program for children, beginning at age three. It seeks to create and facilitate a sacred, hands-on space for children, called an Atrium, where they can hear, ponder and celebrate the mysteries of our Catholic faith. Atrium visits are once per week typically on Wednesday, but the program is growing. Contact us to learn more or visit CGSUSA | The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd® Method.

    • First holy Communion & reconciliation

Sacramental preparation is a beautiful part of a child’s faith journey, as the sacraments are true encounters with Jesus Christ. In order to receive First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion, ALL students must enroll in the Stella Maris Discipleship Nights. Participation in weekly Holy Mass and on Holy Days is also required for sacramental preparation.

Contact Marnie: [email protected] if you have any questions or have older students needing sacramental preparation.

    • Family of Faith
      Grades 2-5

Students in grades 2-5 meet the second Wednesday evening during Stella Maris Discipleship Night in aged-based groups to grow in faith in Jesus Christ and His Church. We use the Family of Faith curriculum. This catechesis model invests in the faith development of families, giving parents the tools to support faith formation at home.

While parents attend monthly adult catechesis presentations, students participate in group activities with peers.

Parents return home prepared to build upon the foundation received throughout the month supported by curriculum materials from Sophia Institute, the Bible, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and invitations to other faith building opportunities offered throughout the month.

    • EDGE Middle School Youth Group
      (Grades 6-8)

We address the unique needs of middle schoolers by using Edge by Lifeteen, Inc. Our mission is to guide them into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. We meet on most Wednesday nights during the school year, following a consistent format: Gather, Proclaim, Break, and Send.

During Gather, middle schoolers are welcomed with a game or activity to build community and introduce the night's topic. Proclaim features an engaging presentation by a Core Team member, priest, or other speaker, limited to ten minutes. Break allows small groups divided by grade and gender to process the information and grow as disciples through discussion. Finally, during Send, they encounter Jesus through prayer.

Beyond Edge Nights, we offer volunteer work, social events, and Love Begins Here summer mission trips.

    • Confirmation Prep

Students in the 9th Grade are invited to prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation! They will have seven Confirmation-specific classes and a retreat. Six of these classes diving into Sacramental content will be on Wednesdays during Discipleship Formation. They will attend the last Confirmation Class with their Confirmation Sponsor, usually on a Sunday shortly before the Confirmation Mass. The retreat is typically held at Durwards Glen and provides an opportunity for students to detach from their daily routine and prepare more deeply for the Sacrament. On weeks students do not have Confirmation prep, they are invited to join the High School Youth Group.

    • HIgh school youth
      Grades 9-12

All high school students are invited to join a high-school-wide Faith Community. This is the perfect opportunity for students to choose to grow in their faith and their relationships within the faith community.

This continuation of faith formation and community is extra important throughout High School as students navigate a transformative period in their life and prepare to enter the real world. This formation is done through talks, small groups, and large group hangouts at weekly Wednesday gatherings along with monthly community building and service events!

    • OCIA
ORDER OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS

This process helps individuals seeking entrance into the Catholic Church, deepening their relationship with God through prayer, catechesis, community, and service. The process can also be for Catholic adults who have not had the opportunity to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Eucharist/Holy Communion or Confirmation during the customary time of their lives.

The length of time for this process depends on the individual’s personal readiness. Beginning in the fall, most individuals are ready to be brought into the Church at the Easter Vigil.
